Looked like an interesting place to eat, so we stopped and ordered lunch. Husband ordered #2 special: corned beef on rye with chips and drink. I just ordered the smoked ham on a croissant. Didn't realize I had to pay 60¢ more for the croissant. But I didn't want a lot of bread. We didn't have to wait long for our individually prepared sandwiches.
Our order was for 2 basic sandwiches and they tasted good. Bread was fresh and they were just big enough to satisfy us without being too much. Shared chips with husband who got the combo. I was too cheap to pay $4 more for a drink and a bag of chips. We dined by the window, and noticed that everything was clean and bright. I liked the rubber tree in the center of the dining area. Big! I also liked the Tiffany style lamps above us.
The menu is big, but not overwhelming. The ice cream in the front looked good, but we were too full for dessert. Husband got a drink refill, and I got ice in my water mug. Ladies behind the counter were friendly and efficient. They also took care of a drive thru in addition to patrons inside.
The men's room was nothing special, but I liked the switch plate in the ladies' room. Both places were clean and functional. -

The chicken and rice soup is amazing! All of their soups are homemade and tasty but that is the best one! The sandwiches are delicious too. I love the capicola, turkey and tuna the best.
Be warned that the diet iced tea is NOT diet. They need to correct their signage as this is dangerous for a diabetic like myself.
I live down the street and eat here often. I love the late hours too. -

Sandwich options that aren't Subway or Jimmy John's are always welcome. Not that there is anything wrong with that (read that in Jerry Seinfeld's voice) but Submarine Port is a nice option in the South Holland area as there doesn't seem to be much out there that I have viewed. Good subs and soups is about as much as one could ask for.

Good Morning.. Had to give a shout out to Submarine Port, in South Holland. I have driven by there for years yet never stopped! Heard from my brother about this place so I said "let me try that today" I was totally impressed. Their sandwiches are really just plain ole good. Just tried their soup yesterday (heard they are homemade) it was the chicken and rice. awesome flavor and hit the spot. The ladies there have been just simple "sweet" and I have stopped by this place over six times.
Keep doing what you are doing. You won my heart and vote!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Small amounts of meat on samdwiches. Ordered a King Size "Port Sub"; was a lettuce & tomato sandwich for all intents & purposes.
